Public Requests for Information

All fusion center P/CRCL Policies (62pp | 1.4mb | PDF) have a redress mechanism included. For background information on the importance of redress mechanisms please see page 20 of the Constitution Project's Fusion Center Report (38pp | 7mb | PDF).

Part of ensuring public awareness and transparency of fusion center operations is to clearly provide information about your fusion center's redress procedures. These procedures should be posted on your fusion center's website separate and apart from your larger P/CRCL Policy.

Furthermore, the posted Redress procedure should be written in plain language so that the public will be able to understand the process they need to go through in order to receive information that the fusion center may hold on them.

For additional background, you may wish to consult your state's freedom of information or public records laws to ensure appropriate, timely response to requests through either avenue.
