Evaluating Training Success
The CRCL Institute maintains a small lending library of training skills books for use by Fusion Center P/CRCL Officers who wish to refine their training presentation, design, evaluation skills. These are just a sampling of books available on these topics from professional trainer sources.
"ASTD Handbook of Measuring and Evaluating Training", (465 pp.) – Serves as a comprehensive go-to reference that you can consult for immediate guidance and provides an essential roadmap to developing effective evaluation and measurement process.
"Train the Trainer Volume 4 - Measurement & Evaluation: Essentials for Measuring Training Success", (284 pp.) – One of the InfoLine series of tips, tools, and intelligence for trainers for measuring training success. You will learn the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of evaluations and how to report results.
"Evaluating Trainer Effectiveness", (16 pp.) – One of the InfoLine series of practical job aids. Presents a generic model to evaluate the effectiveness of trainers. It discusses everything from developing trainers' skills to evaluating their competencies and how to select the best trainers for your project.
"Level 1 Evaluation: Reaction and Planned Action", (16 pp.) – One of the InfoLine series of practical job aids. Discusses measuring participant's reaction to the training itself. Measuring how trainees feel about the program is the basic for planning additional program, expanding existing program or changing existing program.
"Level 2 Evaluation: Learning", (16 pp.) – One of the InfoLine series of practical job aids. Provides the guidelines for performing Level 2 evaluations, including a discussion of various test types, test formatting and design, and administration issues.

Helps you gain the confidence and skills to conduct credible evaluations that not only provide evidence of the program's value, but also enhance those programs.

"Evaluating Data - Planning and Use", (16 pp.) – One of the InfoLine series of practical job aids. Presents an eight-step model as well as tips and tools to help you create a comprehensive evaluation plan. It provides a detailed model for accurate planning and how to properly execute the planning process.
